Motto: "Vouloir, C'est Pouvoir" (where there's a will, there's a way)
First, to help people understand and appreciate Ghanaian languages and cultures, and, second, to provide the social, moral, emotional, and academic skills essential for children and adolescents to enter first-class colleges and quality universities to eventually become effective contributors in Ghana and beyond.
Specifically, the network has the following major goals.
(i) To educate people (especially children and adolescents) to understand and appreciate Ghanaian languages and cultures and to prepare them for further studies;
(ii) To provide a variety of welfare services to selected Ghanaian communities; and
(iii) To help reduce the number of school drop-outs and the unemployed in Ghana.
S&D hopes to achieve the above goals through the establishment of units comprising community schools and service centers.
S&D is being founded based on the following beliefs.
(i) A clear understanding and appreciation of language and culture tend to improve communication and learning.
(ii) A loving and caring environment enhances self-worth and raises academic performance.
(iii) All students are basically rational; they have value, and they learn in different ways.
(iv) Achievement requires the commitment of staff, students, family, and community.
(v) Quasi-literacy constitutes a dangerous social disease that needs to be prevented for society to function effectively.
Consistent with the above beliefs, we strive to provide a warm learning environment in which every student feels secure, respected, and loved. We guide our students to meet their potential, getting each of them to believe that he or she can be a successful life-long learner. Above all, we make sure no dream is aborted.
We strive to enroll children and adolescents (or adults) who have a strong urge to excel academically, morally, and culturally in a safe, supporting, and secure learning community. We endeavor to provide a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare adolescent graduates to perform excellently on their examinations. Moreover, we support our mission through the preparation of students with strong problem-solving skills who need a little coaching to enter a tertiary institution or function effectively in society. Finally, we train our students to effectively communicate and exercise independent judgment with critical thinking and life-long learning skills.
